Associate Art Director

Description

The Associate Director will play a key supportive role for the Artistic Director, assisting in coordinating artistic and administrative initiatives specifically related to the company.

This position includes serving as the rehearsal director, managing footage and schedules, running rehearsals, notating choreographic intentions, and providing comprehensive support to the dancers.

First Year Objectives

● Collaborate in the development and production of new works.

● Strategize with the Artistic Director on the season & repertoire.

● Partner with the Executive Director (ED) on production planning, including:

● Researching and securing venues.

● Addressing production needs such as lighting, sound, and stagehands.

● Manage scheduling for all dance company needs.

● Conduct rehearsals when the Artistic Director is unavailable.

● Maintain regular meetings with dancers to provide support and boost morale throughout the season.

● Prepare reports on dancers; hours for review by the ED.

● Coordinate and oversee all productions.

● Communicate with costume and music collaborators as needed.

● Collaborate with the Development Director on fundraising and community initiatives.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

● Minimum of 5 years of experience as a rehearsal director.

● Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

● Proficiency in technical skills relevant to the role.

● Competence in basic administrative tasks, including writing, Google Drive usage, data management, and spreadsheet proficiency.
